I’ve been creative all my life - as a kid, I used to draw all over the walls of my bedroom, and when I was old enough to contain my scribbles to paper, my parents covered the walls in cork so I could pin my artworks up. I tried to put makeup on my sister and mother and any friends that would sit still long enough for me to practice. I also loved dressing up and make-believe and stories, and eventually channeled my creativity into a bachelor’s in fine and performing arts from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA, followed by an MFA in Theater Arts with an emphasis on playwriting from Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA.

A fascination with other people’s stories led me to a Life Coaching certification in 2008, and I spent the next decade working as a Life and Academic Coach, helping my students and clients identify their life goals and address potential obstacles to success.

While I love the process of coaching and the transformative possibilities it presents, I became keenly aware that I craved a return to my visual/tactile creative expression, so I completed 175 hours of makeup artist training in June 2017 at the Art of Makeup school in Vancouver, WA (read an interview with me about makeup here). Makeup artistry is a synthesis of all the creative elements I love, as well as a form of coaching: working in pursuit of some kind of personal or creative transformation, but using - literally - a different set of tools.

I am available to do makeup and "light" hair styling for professional portraits, maternity, boudoir, editorial, and other photography needs, and do makeup and basic FX for film (I am a proud member of Women in Media) , as well as more complex wig and makeup prosthetics and designs for theater. For makeup coaching and lessons, I specialize in clean, effortless, natural beauty looks; I also had my colors done many years ago and believe we naturally gravitate towards and feel more "at home" in our own unique color palettes, and I bring this awareness to the colors I use for 1:1 coaching/lessons.
